The CHU of Liège, a major academic hospital in Wallonia, partnered with Atracore to develop a secure application for transferring patient consent information to a genetic laboratory. This initiative aimed to facilitate a study screening newborns for over 120 treatable but currently unscreened genetic diseases. If parents consented, six additional drops of blood were collected during routine screenings for further analysis.
To support this process, Atracore developed a digital platform that automated data management, integrated DocuSign for electronic signatures, and enabled barcode scanning for patient identification. The platform also provided a secure central repository for consent documents, ensuring accessibility for audits and research. Different user roles, such as investigators, laboratory technicians, doctors, and auditors, were assigned specific access permissions to maintain data security.
This system streamlined the consent and data collection process, improving efficiency, security, and compliance with research standards. The platform’s availability on both desktop and tablets enhanced accessibility for healthcare professionals involved in the study.
